Tanks and Pipes

Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP), also known as GRP (Glass Reinforced Polyester), is a composite material boasting superior properties such as corrosion resistance, high strength, and lightweight construction. At PultechFRP, with our extensive experience and engineering expertise, we manufacture GRP tanks and piping systems that are of critical importance to industrial facilities.

FRP Tanks: Safe and Durable Storage Solutions

Our FRP tanks offer reliable and economical storage solutions across a wide range of applications, from chemical storage to water treatment, waste management, and the food industry.

Key Advantages and Features of FRP Tanks

Advantages:

  • Superior Corrosion Resistance: They exhibit excellent resistance to aggressive chemicals, acids, bases, and salts. Thanks to these properties, they operate flawlessly for many years even in harsh environments where metal tanks would quickly rust and deform.
  • High Mechanical Strength: Despite being lighter than steel, they possess high tensile and compressive strength. This ensures the tanks are durable against internal and external pressures.
  • Lightweight: They are much lighter than metal tanks. This feature provides significant savings in transportation and installation costs. Furthermore, it reduces infrastructure costs by lessening the ground load.
  • Long Lifespan: With proper design and manufacturing, FRP tanks can offer a service life of up to 50 years. This minimizes maintenance and replacement costs.
  • Low Maintenance Requirement: Due to their corrosion resistance, they do not require periodic maintenance such as painting or sandblasting. This also reduces operating costs.
  • Temperature Resistance: They can perform across a wide temperature range (typically -40°C to +100°C). Higher temperature resistance can also be achieved with special resin systems.
  • Hygienic Properties: Suitable for food and potable water applications, their smooth inner surfaces prevent bacterial growth and facilitate cleaning.
  • Design Flexibility: They can be manufactured in various sizes, shapes (vertical, horizontal, rectangular), and connection types. Accessories such as custom fittings, manholes, and level indicators can be easily integrated.

Application Areas:

  • Chemical storage tanks
  • Water and wastewater treatment plant tanks
  • Fire water storage tanks
  • Acid tanks
  • Caustic tanks
  • Fuel and petroleum storage tanks (especially for underground applications)
  • Food and beverage industry tanks
  • Agriculture and fertilizer storage tanks
  • Desalination plant tanks

Our Production Methods

At PultechFRP, we use two primary methods for FRP tank production:

  • Filament Winding: This is the most common and preferred method. High-strength tanks with uniform wall thickness are obtained by precisely winding resin-impregnated glass fiber rovings onto a rotating mold. This method is ideal for tanks requiring high pressure and volume.
  • Hand Lay-Up: This method is used particularly for complex geometries or small-batch productions. A mixture of glass fiber mat and resin is applied manually onto the mold.

FRP Pipes: Reliable Solutions for Industrial Fluid Transfer

FRP pipes offer a durable, long-lasting, and economical alternative for industrial fluid transfer, resistant to harsh conditions such as corrosion, high pressure, and abrasion. FRP pipes provide significant advantages in applications where metal pipes frequently fail or require maintenance due to corrosion.

Advantages:

  • Excellent Corrosion Resistance: They show superior resistance to a wide range of chemicals, acids, alkalis, and salts. This is critically important for systems transporting aggressive fluids.
  • Lightweight: They are 1/4 lighter than steel pipes. This significantly reduces transportation, handling, and installation costs. It also saves on pipe hanger and support structures.
  • High Mechanical Strength: They offer high resistance to internal and external pressure. They maintain their high strength even in buried applications.
  • Low Friction Loss: Thanks to their smooth inner surfaces, they minimize fluid friction resistance. This reduces pumping energy consumption and allows for the same flow rate to be transported with less energy.
  • Long Service Life: Due to their resistance to corrosion and abrasion, they can offer a service life of up to 50 years or even longer. This lowers the total cost of ownership of the system.
  • Low Maintenance Requirement: Problems like rust or scaling do not occur, which eliminates the need for periodic maintenance of the pipes.
  • Easy Installation: Being lightweight and having special joining methods makes their installation quick and practical. Different joining options such as flanged, spigot-and-socket, or adhesive bonding are available.
  • Temperature Resistance: They can perform across a wide temperature range (typically -40°C to +100°C). Pipes resistant to higher temperatures can be produced with special resin systems.
  • Low Thermal Conductivity: They have much lower thermal conductivity compared to metals. This helps maintain the temperature of the transported fluid and reduces the need for insulation.

Application Areas:

  • Water and wastewater treatment plant pipelines
  • Chemical plant pipelines
  • Seawater discharge and intake lines
  • Oil and gas industry pipelines
  • Geothermal pipelines
  • Cooling water lines for thermal power plants
  • Potable water networks
  • Sewage and drainage lines
  • Mining facility pipelines
  • Ship industry pipelines

Our Production Methods

Filament Winding is generally used for FRP pipe production. This method ensures the production of high-strength and homogeneous pipes by winding resin-impregnated glass fiber rovings at a specific angle onto a rotating mandrel (mold). Pipes produced with this method show high resistance to internal and external pressures.

At PultechFRP, we offer customer-focused solutions in all processes, from the design to the production and installation of FRP tank and pipe systems. By using the most suitable resin systems and production techniques for your project's needs, we produce high-quality and durable products compliant with international standards (such as ASTM, ASME, EN). Our experienced engineering team is ready to provide you with technical support and consultancy services at every stage of your project. Do not hesitate to contact us for your needs.
